Healthy Family
Hello everyone,
I know everything is not going well, as you have been thinking.
As I entered my office a couple of days ago, the whole group was discussing and
planning to prevent COVID-19. I thought its just like other disease that comes
and goes. We heard few numbers of people that was affected by the disease, but suddenly
the number became in hundreds. The plan being made came into an existence, hand
washing point at different areas. I thought this was okay because washing hand
prevents lot of disease. Yet, my focus was soon dragged to a camp known as flu
clinic that was built at night for urgent checkups. This was bit alarming. Schools
were closed in three dzongkhags but within no time all schools and colleges were
closed and student were sent home. It was no more a joke; it became something
to be worried about.
It took away my breathe when I saw our staff working
on the construction of isolation rooms for the people who will be infected, meaning
they have assumed that Bhutanese will get infected by the disease and will be
kept in that isolation room. I heard them discussing that each room will accommodate
certain number of infected (not even suspect) people, they will use that toilet
and they will not go out from this area that was surrounded by nets. I heard
our head saying, every work must be done perfectly, because we will not be allowed
once the infected people are kept inside. I took a long breath and thought what
will happen if this thing becomes a reality and suddenly the border area gets
sealed.
Each day updates the increasing number of people being
infected by the disease, Italy lost such a huge number of its citizen, some
doctors became a victim of it, some families must have been demolished completely,
some offices are running out of staff and the countries are losing great
leaders and productive citizens. The country is losing its economy, and all the
resources may one day run out. People are asked to stay home; students are sent
home with the hope of online studies and city looks deserted. Everyone is
asking what next?
Well, I do not have the answer as well, but I can tell
you what we can do now. Let us go back to the story of Jesus when He was
talking to the Samaritan women. Jesus told her in the Jacob’s well, “But the
hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the
Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship
him.” John 4:23. It says the time is now. I heard some saying that the
best time was before COVID-19 entered the state, and some may think after this
will be the best time to start. NO, says the Bible, the time is now; for
prayers, reading scripture, praise and worship to be made unto the Lord. In
spirit and in truth means regardless of where you are, or whom you are with, and
irrespective of what you have, rise up in spirit and start singing praises to
Him, offering prayers and reading scripture.
I really enjoy reading what Habakkuk says, “Figs
might not grow on the fig trees, and grapes might not grow on the vines. Olives
might not grow on the olive trees, and food might not grow in the fields. There
might not be any sheep in the pens or cattle in the barns. But I will
still be glad in the LORD and rejoice in God my savior. The Lord GOD gives
me my strength. He helps me run fast like a deer. He leads me safely on the mountains.”
Habakkuk 3:17,18,19. I find our people setting conditions to do something good,
but as he says, rejoice regardless of what you may be going through. We are not
to make excuses for our failure but to work hard in our own field, we are not
to blame anyone but make good use of the time we have, and we are not to complain
as well but to thank for the live we are still living. Habakkuk, although he
may not become a successful man if everything runs out, declares here that he will
by no means make it an excuse instead he would still rejoice in the Lord.
Bible says, “But he who is joined with all the
living has hope, for a living dog is better than a dead lion.” Ecclesiastes
9:4 So, let’s stop complaining for what we could not get, lets not argue for
the opportunities we missed, lets not grumble over the people but let us spent
time in prayers, let us build up our family relationship, let us help parents with
the kitchen works, lets learn something new this time. Dear students, the
future leaders, future citizens we must learn to turn the problems into
opportunities. Let us look at things with positive thoughts and make it
something precious. Sleeping will not solve the problem neither will social
media but your time towards your goal will help you become who you wanted to
be.
God is restoring the entire world, even your families
so let’s not waste this beautiful moment with them.
Thank You
Stay Home, Stay Safe
