The Truth About Salvation
In my last post, I wrote about what sin is and because of the sin people were separated from God. When Adam and Eve sinned, God came to them asking where they were. They were hidden because they sinned, they could not face God. Sin became a barrier between God and human. Even to this day fear, shame, and our desires has obstructed us to go near the Lord. The scripture also tells,
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Roman 6:23
According to this scripture, a person has to die because of their sin, yet the grace of the Lord was enough to save them by killing an innocent animal.
God immediately killed an animal and clothed them. It did not take away their sins but it was hidden. Long after this story people began to kill innocent animals for their sins. Leviticus 17:11 says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.” It was also restated in the book of Hebrew that under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins (Hebrew 9:22). This became a culture and it is practiced even to this day, yet the killing of animals could not save the people from the penalty of sin because the blood of bulls and goats could just cover their sins. It is written in the same book, “For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.” (Hebrew 10:4)
Therefore, Christ had to die. Christ died to free people from sins committed against the commands of the first agreement (Hebrew 9:15). 1 Peter 3:18 says, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.” The only reason for the crusification of Christ is Salvation of mankind. He restored the relation between people and God. Our sins are hidden no more but washed away by the blood of Christ (Hebrew 9:14). We were dead once but we are alive now and forever. Hilliard (1989) said “All the sins of the of the past and all sins of the future were paid for at the cross.”
The salvation is free gift of God (Ephesians 2:8) accessible to everyone, not because of our work but by the grace of God. “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people.” Titus 2 :11
Three things to prepare for God’s salvation:
Faith (Ephesians 2:8)
Repent (Acts 26:20)
Confess (Roman 10:9-10)
